2024 Plano Volleyball Tryout Information

 

 

Compliance Prior to Tryouts

 

Wildcats and Future Wildcats! We’re excited to get the new season started. The following includes some general information for volleyball tryouts. Please read carefully as all questions should be answered within the letter. 

All student-athletes interested in trying out for the volleyball program must be present at all sessions for your allotted age group to be considered for a team. We will have 5 teams next season- Varsity, JV1, JV2, 9A and 9B.

 

Tryout dates: August 5th & 6th

Sessions:

  1. 10:00-1:00 PM | ALL incoming 9th Grade
  2. 2:00-4:30 pm | ALL 10th-12th Grade

*Please keep in mind some freshmen may be asked to attend the other sessions if they are being looked at for JV1 or VARSITY teams. Teams will be announced on August 6th after the last session.

 

ALL STUDENTS WILL NEED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PAPERWORK ON RANKONE:

(THIS WILL BE AVAILABLE CLOSER TO THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR AROUND APRIL/MAY)

 

-Updated 2024 physical evaluation (MUST BE ON PISD FORM & DATED AFTER APRIL, 1ST) and uploaded to RankOne before August 1st

-Medical History form filled out by player and parents and signed by both and uploaded to RankOne before August 1st

-All UIL paperwork must be completed before you can tryout in RankOne before August 1st - NO EXCEPTIONS

 

All players need to come prepared for tryouts with the proper equipment including water, running shoes, court shoes, knee pads and a plain t-shirt with your last name & grade visibly written on the front and back. (Ex. Anderson-12)

 

EVALUATION:
**Due to the competitive level of our program and our opponents, previous volleyball experience is almost a necessity in order to make the roster for our teams**

Technical ability- individual skill including ball control, passing, setting, hitting, serving, and defense

Tactical game- game awareness, passing, setting, and hitting accuracy, court awareness, the understanding of different positions/rotations

Fitness- assessment will include endurance, agility, speed, and vertical

If you currently are receiving accommodations for a disability under Section 504 or Special Education and believe you need an accommodation in order to have equal access to participate in volleyball, please let Coach Anderson know as soon as possible, but no later than 24 hours before the tryouts are scheduled.

 

Expectations:

  • Be on time and have all your paperwork and equipment. 
  • Come ready to work hard and compete…No excuses.

A positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and an understanding of teamwork will make a difference.
